Rachel & Calen celebrated their love on a perfectly rainy day earlier this month. Just as the Illinois trees began to tiptoe towards fall, they celebrated a beautifully planned day which couldn’t be dampened by rain.

Even though the forecast called for rain and the venue offered an indoor ceremony space, Rachel & Calen wanted to keep their ceremony how they planned it: in front of the stunning historical McCormick mansion on the grounds of Cantigny Park. Surrounded by friends and family, the rain cleared halfway through the ceremony just in time for Rachel & Calen to exchange vows.

Following the ceremony, the couple made time for group photos and portraits. Because we lost daylight quickly from a very clouded sky and the rain delay, we experienced some very dramatic lighting for portraits.

For the rest of the evening, everyone headed to Cantigny Golf to celebrate the reception under-cover. Rachel did such a beautiful job planning her wedding, and chose to keep their timeline simple so they could fully enjoy their friends, family, and each other. After capturing Rachel and Calen’s proposal, engagement photos, it was even more special to capture their wedding. I cannot wait to finish editing & deliver their full gallery!
